Wow... I haven't really liked Rihanna for awhile... Since that whole Chris Brown thing... I like most of her music, but her demeanor lately has been absolutely smug and I find it terribly unbecoming. She used to be fun, and flirty and now, much like Miley, she acts like she doesn't care about anything anymore.
I really like this collection. The rose gold packaging is gorgeous, the campaign photo is breathtaking... The colors are GORGEOUS.
For Our Song today, I chose "Talk That Talk", "Where Have You Been?", and "Disturbia" simply because they're my favorites :)
Scent? Rihanna, Reb'l Fleur, of course!
Another Fruity, sweet celebrity fragrance... but not altogether unbearable.
Top Notes: Fruits, Peaches, Plums and Red Berries (Add as many adjectives and synonyms for "Juicy" as you want...)
From what I understand, this was developed based upon "What would sell" vs. What Rihanna would wear and buy, blah blah. Typical.
Back to Makeup! :D
Here's the Press release from MAC to Temptalia's Christine:
Rihanna premieres her perfect palette of lavish fall colour – a range of decidedly daring yet classically gorgeous shades, finishes and tools, all encased in the metallic warmth of rose gold packaging. Lipstick in deep raisin, orange frost, creamy nude and the vivid red of RiRi Woo match gleaming Lipglass, while eyes in contrasting soft and smoky cocoas complement luminous skin highlighted with Diamonds Cream Colour Base and Powder Blush in Bad Girl Gone Good.
Some Promotional images...
The Lipsticks... Dear God. Something always stirs inside me when I see lipstick in a beautiful tube. If you know me at all, you know I'm a sucker for gold packaged ANYTHING but ROSE GOLD?!?!?! Wow.
The lipsticks are debossed with Rihanna's signature. The shades above from left to right are:
Nude (a cool, matte cream)
Who's That Chick (a frosted orange)
RiRi Woo (a matte, blue red) *released earlier this year*
Talk That Talk (a matte, deep plum)
$16.50
Unfortunately when I got to the counter they were sold out of all but RiRi Woo, assumably because they overstocked, OR customers bought theirs earlier this year when it first launched.
The Lipglass is also in shade RiRi Woo $16.50
The Lipliners in this collection are:
RiRi Woo
and
Talk That Talk
$21.50
There are two EXTREMELY beautiful eyeshadow palettes. I purchased Her Cocoa which are the nudes. The other, Smoked Cocoa, are the grays. $44
As with all MAC products, these colors are extremely pigmented, the formulas are very long-wearing.
There are two powder brow pencils in Deep Brunette and Deep Dark Brunette. $21.50
Cream Colorbase in Diamonds $22
Blush in Bad Girl Gone Good $23
Blush Duo in Hibiscus Kiss $29
Extended Play Gigablack Lash $17.50
The 36 and 35(Limited!!!) lashes are $17.50
The 282SE Duo Fibre Brush is $32
The 187SE Duo Fibre Brush is $42
Let's get on with my review, swatches and pictures!
Beautiful rose gold boxes. I purchased these 7 items with my own money! :) Her Cocoa Eyeshadow Palette, Extended Play Lash GigaBlack, Veluxe Brow Liner in Deep Dark Brunette, Liquidlast Liner in Pointblack, Pro Longwear Lip Pencil in RiRi Woo, Lipstick in RiRi Woo, Lipglass in RiRi Woo. (But I am more than willing to review items sent to me for consideration, free of charge.)*
To be absolutely clear, the packaging is different in color, but is the standard shape and weight as all of MAC packaging. I quite like the metallic finish. I really wish the Prep + Prime finish was on all of their packaging, I find it quite beautiful. MAC usually do a limited edition palette shape and minaudiere style during the holiday season.
The lipstick is amazing, not only because it's Rihanna's RiRi Woo, but it's a retro matte formula, which means that it is a velvet matte finish. It's like velvet. It never flakes or bleeds. It becomes a stain on the lips.
The eyeliner is the blackest of the black. This is extremely long wearing. the swatch I made would not come off of my hand for two days - that's after makeup remover (clarins and Make Up For Ever) scratching, and finally my Clarisonic. The color is similar to that of Stila's liquid liner, but the intensity, density and long-wear are unmatched by any that I've seen.
MAC's Lipglass is just that - glass for the lips. It's quite smooth... not sticky at all. Some glosses are rather a bit gloopy and anytime you open your mouth there are bits of gloop keeping your mouth in a limbo of open/closed. Quite annoying that. This color is gorgeous on it's own. Over the lipliner and lipstick, it's marvelous. Perfect combo... matchy matchy is back, y'all.
This is the first Mascara by MAC I have EVER tried. Odd, no? Meet Extended Play Gigablack Lash which MAC call "a lightweight curling, lifting mascara in an intense carbon black pigment. The brush is quite small and elongated. The curl with this mascara is incredible, and when compared to Dior's Iconic Overcurl, they're nearly similar. What separates them entirely is that Overcurl give volume and length, and Gigablack, to me, is mainly concerned with curl and length. As far as "coal black pigment" goes, when swatched next to Diorshow Blackout (whose claim to fame is 15x more pigment than regular mascara) the two are quite similar, the difference, again, being volume. On a side note, I've found MAC's False Lashes' brush and formula to be quite similar to Diorshow original, and I will be testing it very soon for comparison!
On to swatches!
RiRi's Mascara on top, then Blackout and Overcurl. To the right is the Liquidlast Liner!

Her Cocoa Eyeshadow Palette! PHEW... Sorry for the long post, took all day! Here's a link to: Temptalia, Here! Tiffany D, youtube!
You know her, you love her. Dita Von Teese (born Heather Renee Sweet) is a burlesque performer, artist, singer(see video below!!!), and fashion model. She is known for her porcelain skin, dazzling scarlet lips, and flawless cat eye liner. She sources her vintage look from Old Hollywood glamour. A time when creation of one's image was an art form. There wasn't anything natural about Hollywood during this era. Plastic surgery was on the rise, women were dying their hair and wearing more makeup than they had in the '20's and '30's.
She was married to musician Marilyn Manson in 2005 until they called it quits in 2007. It was during this time period where I feel like her look evolved. There was a hint of Femme Fatale mixed with a hint of Vampire Queen.
After the experimental phase, a new side of her emerged. She grew wings and took flight. In addition to the burlesque performances, Dita now has several partnerships in the beauty industry. She has a fragrance line, Dita Von Teese Perfumes, and a partnership with ARTDECO Cosmetics in which she debuted two collections. One in a standard black packaging, and the other, in true Old Hollywood style, in gold packaging.
Her fragrances are my choice of today! I'm currently sniffing Dita Von Teese Rouge, which is a rich, smoky floral. The notes are bergamot, pink pepper, orange, lapsang souchong tea, magnolia, woods, and amber.
She debuted her first fragrance, Dita Von Teese on HSN where it nearly sold out. She said she didn't want to create "just another celebrity perfume" that was a "fruity floral" mess. She also didn't want her name splashed all over the place (I should take a hint in this post...ha!) The bottles are devoid of her name. She wanted them to be a modern interpretation of a classic bottle. I'm IN LOVE with the atomizer puff on the two larger sizes of the original concoction.
Her next two fragrances are fairly new. The third being Fleurtease, and the fourth, Erotique, which will debut this fall. Fleurtease is a light, fresh floral. If you're curious about trying any of these, I recommend The Perfumed Court. They sell decants of popular fragrances so you can try before you buy. The Perfumed Court, here.
Want to try Dita's signature look on your own?
For Foundation, Dita prefers L'Oreal True Match in N1 here or a drugstore!or Dior Capture Totale Serum Foundation in 010 here (always go to a counter if you can! ;)), always set with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Light here. She's also a fan of Guerlain's Meteorites Powder for the Face found at Sephora!
For Blush she uses MAC's Mocha and Dame frequently. Found here!
For Lips, Dita uses a wide variety of Reds. Her favorites include Russian Red, Ruby Woo, Viva Glam I, Dubonnet, all by MAC! (Viva Glam lipsticks are in the side bar, just click!) She's also a fan of Yves Saint-Laurent's Rouge Pur #1 at Sephora and Dior's Diorific Lipstick in Rouge Bingo (Good luck finding this! Diorific lipsticks are limited to Holiday release, with the exception of these online.)
For Eyes, Dita generally uses eyeshadows by MAC. Her favorites are: Shroom, Brun, Carbon, Vapor... anything in neutral/shimmer territory, found here!
For Liner, Dita uses MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack found here!
For Mascara Dita prefers Diorshow Original in Catwalk Black here or Guerlain's Le 2 de Guerlain Mascara in black found at Sephora here!
This is something I've always wanted to do.
Honestly.
The reason(s) it has taken me so long to start blogging was probably because 1.) I felt that I had no time. 2.) I thought no one valued my opinion enough 3.) I thought I would be typing into some far off black hole in space that only... idk? The people from Avatar... What are they called? They're blue... Do they have internet? No, they live in trees...
If you're looking for BareMinerals, Fashion Fair, or drugstore "dupes", You've come to the wrong place. Kindly take your leave.
